- 1 ½ tablespoon of granulated sugar
Method French Apple Cake
Put the salt, baking powder, and flour in a small bowl and combine after whisking properly. Afterward, put it aside, whip the sugar and butter in a bowl of an electric mixer, and mix until it becomes fluffy and light.
Put the eggs one after another, add the rum and vanilla extract, and then beat them properly. Do not be worried if it looks grainy, as it is entirely normal. Put in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly to allow them to combine well.
Next, put in the chopped apples and while using a rubber spatula, put them into the batter.
Put the chopped apples into the batter. Grease a 9-inch cake or springform pan and line with parchment. Afterward, grease the pan again and put in the batter. Ensure you even the top after you add the batter. Pour a tablespoon of granulated sugar into the batter afterward.
Put the cake in the oven and leave to bake for 40 minutes until the top turns crisp and golden. You can serve the cake warm or at room temperature after leaving to cool off for some hours. Serve with vanilla ice cream, lightly sweetened, or plain whipped cream.
