peeled and pre-cored, canned pineapple is the most convenient option. There is also a guarantee that the fruit will be ripe. But, pineapple rings or sliced pineapple also work in this recipe.

  • Cut the top and bottom of the pineapple using a serrated edge knife. Then, cut off the sides by placing them on your cutting board. Use a paring knife to remove any remaining eyes on the fruit.
  • Slice the peeled pineapple into 1-inch cubes by laying it on its side (or even smaller if possible).
  • Place the cubes on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat in a single layer.
  • Dry for 8 hours at 175° F, rotating pineapple rings every couple of hours. You may need to move the trays sometimes to ensure equal drying.
  • Then, remove the pineapples from the oven and let them cool down a bit. You can sprinkle sugar and salt on the pineapple and store it in a container.
  • Keep the container sealed.

How To Use

Dehydrated pineapples are a great nutritious snack to keep on hand, but here are some more ways to use them:

  • Mix it in with the trail mix.
  • Sprinkle the chopped chunks on top of the porridge or yogurt.
  • Toss in granola.
  • Cocktail garnishes.
  • Serve with a cheese platter or a charcuterie board.

Look for cultivated goods, which are likely to have been more nutrient-dense before dehydration than farmed pineapples. And dried pineapple without coated sugar is a more healthy snack. To reduce the sugar level, combine it with a low-sugar dried fruit. When you add nuts or dry seeds to your fruit, you may get beneficial oils. These oils can assist your body in absorbing fat-soluble minerals like beta-carotene.
